British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is an independent crown corporation with a mandate to protect investors and the integrity of BC’s capital markets. BCSC reviews applications for registration from those that trade securities, provide advice and manage portfolios or investment funds by ensuring they are qualified, ethical, and solvent. BCSC reviews the disclosures businesses raising capital must provide to investors. It takes action against those who contravene securities laws and educates investors to protect themselves and industry participants to understand how to comply with securities law requirements. BCSC is self-funded, meaning the cost of securities regulation is borne by market participants, not taxpayers.
