Competition Bureau investigating allegations Apple used anti-competitive clauses

The Competition Bureau is investigating allegations that Apple uses anti-competitive clauses in its contracts with Canadian wireless carriers relating to the supply of iPhones.

Spokesman Greg Scott says the bureau sought a court order earlier this week to compel Apple Canada Inc. to hand over records relating to the investigation.

The bureau says it has not yet concluded whether or not there has been any wrongdoing on Apple’s part.

“As always, should evidence indicate that the Competition Act has been contravened, the commissioner will take appropriate action,” Scott said in an email Thursday.
