Maureen Jensen nominated for top job at Ontario Securities Commission

The Ontario government has reached inward for the next leader of the Ontario Securities Commission, nominating the agency’s executive director, Maureen Jensen, to replace departed chair Howard Wetston.

Ms. Jensen is the first woman to be named chair of the OSC and the first leader in recent decades to be appointed from within the agency’s ranks, with many prior chairs coming from the legal community or from other financial or regulatory backgrounds. Mr. Wetston, who headed the OSC from 2010 to 2015, came to the role after serving as head of the Ontario Energy Board, but had served as a vice-chair of the OSC earlier in his career.
