NDP government delivers something old and new for ASC

There was something old and something new on Tuesday for the Alberta Securities Commission.

First, the new.

Finance Minister Joe Ceci appointed Calgary lawyer Stan Magidson as chairman and chief executive of the ASC, taking over from longtime head Bill Rice, who retired last fall.

A former CEO of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a partner with the law firm Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, Magidson served as chair of the ASC’s securities advisory committee for six years.
